Frantic Records announces the release of Bastille's debut CD, "Off With Your Head." The collection of ten original songs is an eclectic mix. There is a bump-and-grind cha-cha (Voices), a Celtic-tinged saga (Brave heart), a barnburner with African undercurrents (Chosen ones), their take on R&B (Shadow girl), a selection of straight-ahead rockers (I have doubts, Snowslider, Anything, Fistful of dreams, From the ashes), and even a ballad (Circle world). The quartet is comprised of DC and Baltimore veterans Arthur Graves; guitar, David Cawkwell; vocals & guitar, Paul Fraunfelter; drums, and newcomer Tom Burick; bass & vocals. Bastille's sound is big. They most closely bring to mind the sonic possibilities of a Cult, Mission UK, and Peter Gabriel-era Genesis collaboration. A live Bastille performance is likely to include new and changing material, extended improvisation and the occasional cover.
